1.0 K'Vort Class Introduction

1.1 History:

The Klingons applied several class designations to their Bird-of-Prey design, including the K'vort-class, B'rel-class and D12-class.

The Enterprise-D is fired upon by a D12-class Klingon Bird-of-PreyThe D12-class was retired from service by the 2350s due to faulty plasma coils, which were components of the cloaking systems. Finding one of these vessels with a working cloaking device was rather unique in 2370.

By the 2360s, it was not uncommon to find a B'rel-class Bird-of-Prey stripped and relegated to a surplus yard. In their struggle for better ships to combat the enemies of the empire, the K'Vort Class Bird of Prey was commisioned. The K'Vort-class is referred to as a battle cruiser. While slower warpspeed than the Galaxy-class battleships of the era, it is more maneuverable. In a 3:1 confrontation, a Galaxy-class would not be able to last long. This class was known to be equipped with several escape pods.

2.0 Command Systems

2.1 Main Bridge:

General Overview: The main bridge was located at the top portion of the forward section of the vessel. Located in the front of the bridge, against the forward bulkhead, was the ship's main viewscreen, used by the ship's Captain.

Captain's chair is featured in the center of the bridge, on a raised platform, directly behind the viewscreen was the command chair, which had the ability to swivel 360 degrees. This positioning provided the commanding officer an unobstructed view of the screen, as well as allowed the commander to visually monitor all bridge operations.

Navigation and helm stations directly behind the command chair were two manned consoles. The port side position had control over the viewscreen display and could take the ship into evasive maneuvers.

2.3 Tactical Department:

WEAPONS SYSTEMS

Disruptor Mounts (2): These are mounted out on the wings of the ship and are in the same place as the pulse disruptors on the smaller bird of prey are located at. Used as anti-capital ship weapons and can take out frigates in one shot or do large amounts of damage to bases or larger ships and have a far longer range than the pulse disruptors. The Disruptor cannons can be combined or used separately. Weapon has difficulty to hit fighters and small targets. The barrels can be fired forward only but can be rotated 30 degrees horizontally or vertically.
Range: 93,300 miles (150,000 km) in space and 93.3 miles (150 km) in an atmosphere.

Disruptor Turrets (6): These disruptors are mounted on the hull of the ship. Two disruptor turrets are located in the front of the ship, one disruptor turret is located on each side, and two disruptor turrets are located aft.
Range: 12,437 miles (20,000 km) in space and 12.4 miles (20 km) in an atmosphere.

Photon Torpedo Launching System (2): One launcher is mounted in the nose of the Bird of Prey and the other is mounted on the rear. The Klingon Empire has concentrated on launchers that can launch more than one torpedo at the same time. Once a spread of torpedoes has been launched, the launchers must reload and rearm before launching another spread of torpedoes.
Rate of fire: One at a time or in volleys of 2 or 4. Launcher is reloaded on the same melee and can be fired again on the next.
Payload: 192 Photon torpedoes

Cloaking Device: The K'Vort Bird of Prey has a cloaking device that allows the ship to be undetectable by most sensors. The Klingon Empire originally got their cloaking technology from the Romulans but has since been able to both copy and improve on their cloaking technology. The starship cannot raise shields or fire any weapons while cloaked.
The best weapons officers can both raise its combat shields and can fire its weapons previous to any opponents attacks while decloaking.
